Dr. Regina McDuffie Welcomed as Lower School Principal
Last Friday we announced to Lower School faculty and parents that Dr. Regina McDuffie will be the permanent Principal of the Lower School effective immediately. We are thrilled with her decision and feel this is in the very best interest of the school. This move does have some all-school implications, but we feel that the situation is quite different from two years ago when Dr. McDuffie served as the Interim Lower School Principal for the entire year. The primary difference this time around is that she has done this before and the support now in place is very different from two years ago. Dr. McDuffie and her assistant, Mrs. Joanne Pate, have moved their offices to the Lower School, and a second level administrative team has been put in place. This is a new development for the Lower School, and while Dr. McDuffie’s primary focus will be to lead this division, this new structure will provide the necessary support for her to sustain the most important aspects of her role as Academic Dean. As we complete the second half of this year and look ahead to 2010–2011, Dr. McDuffie will continue to Chair our Academic Affairs Committee, oversee department heads and all-school professional development, and lead our 21st Century Learning initiative.
