As part of the Celebrating Community service effort, the St. Margaret’s Library will be hosting a used book drive during the week of March 8. The books collected will be consigned to reseller Better World Books, and proceeds will go toward a literacy-based nonprofit charitable organization, Invisible Children. We will be collecting books the entire week. We are looking for all kinds of books, including text books that are less than five years old, and CDs and DVDs with original artwork and casing. Calling all St. Margaret’s Families: Fun for all ages! Please come out to the Pasternack Field House on Saturday, March 13, for Lemon-Fest, a Lemon-aid festival and concert to raise money for the earthquake victims in Haiti and Chile. This student-led event will feature a community festival from 3 to 5 p.m. including appearances from pro surfers, food from sponsors Z Pizza, Subway and Jamba Juice, earthquake presentations from the Discovery Science Center and more! Last Saturday was a unique and special occasion the St. Margaret’s community will always remember. At Club 30: A Tartan Jazz Club, the entire St. Margaret’s community gathered to celebrate the school’s 30th year and raise funds for the school. This glamorous night at the St. Regis Resort featured silent and live auctions, student performances and a moving film launching the public leadership phase of the Building on the Promise campaign.

On Saturday, March 6, in Sillers Hall, the Department of Performing Arts Presents an evening of 10 short plays written, rehearsed, and performed within 24 hours by more than 80 St. Margaret’s faculty and students. Come support our playwrights and witness the creative extravaganza that is the 24-Hour Play Festival! The performances will begin at 7 p.m.

This annual event supporting the St. Margaret’s Library presented by the Parent Teacher Fellowship will be held on Friday, April 30, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., at the beautiful McMackin family Newport Coast residence. The theme of this year’s luncheon is “Teatime in Wonderland,” and the Queen of Hearts hereby invites all interested hostesses and servers to contact the PTF for more information about how to decorate a table at this important yearly fund-raiser.
